Summer Reading 2024

Summer Reading Season Has Arrived!

And with it, this summer reading guide! We invite you explore the tabs on the left to find information about required and recommended summer reading.

Whenever possible, we've linked to the copy of the book in Sora, but we remind you that your local public library is a great way to access awesome print materials. For a reminder about how to access Sora, please find a tutorial here. You should also add your local public library and all three NYC area library systems (see below) to your Sora account for a larger selection. For a tutorial about how to add a public library card to your Sora account, please click here

All required books are provided by the school through P&T Knitwear. We recommend calling ahead (212-546-7536) to make sure they have the titles in stock and set aside for you before going to the store. Once there, please show your Friends Seminary ID and they will bill the school for your required reading purchases.

2024 ALSC Summer Reading Lists

From the ALSC Website: The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) is the world's largest organization dedicated to the support and enhancement of library service to children.

The lists are full of book titles and other digital media options to keep children engaged in reading and exploring throughout the summer. Four Summer Reading lists are available for birth-preschool and grades K-2, 3-5 and 6-8. Each list is available here to download for free.

Titles on the 2024 Summer Reading Lists were compiled and annotated by members of ALSC’s Quicklists Consulting Committee. ALSC reading lists are created as a resource for children's librarians to share with patrons. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to explore these titles to find resources that may match or spark their child's interest.
